CASA DE ORACIÓN MADRE ELISEA

Founder of the Congregation:

SISTERS OF THE VIRGIN MARY OF MOUNT CARMEL

There are those who have the illusion of creating history because they are located at the crossroads where the tiny events that the newspapers record and that the television screens pour onto the viewers converge. He does not suspect that the true story is built, most of the time, from anonymity, overcoming the temptation of monotony, carrying out the small things of each day to perfection, in fidelity to the task entrusted to him.

That's how it is. The big hits, the characters on whom the spotlight is pointed, tend to rise like foam for brief moments, or while the favorable situation lasts. Then, like foam, they dissolve without leaving a trace.

In the convulsed world of advertising and exhibitionism, all its inhabitants plan to do extraordinary and definitive things. Fortunately, there are specialists for everyday underground tasks. They work in the dark, their echo is modest. But by dint of perseverance, realism and coherence, they end up being the great protagonists.

Such also happens in the regions of faith and on the roads along which consecrated people travel. Also in religious life there are silent and tenacious characters who do not act in front of the gallery, but with their eyes set on the task at hand.

Involved in this exercise of specialists who do not make a fuss, of little importance in the eyes of those who allow themselves to be seduced by the spectacle, we must place Mother Elisea, founder of our Congregation of Sisters of the Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel.

Whoever approaches his biography does not expect lofty doctrine or mystical outbursts, but he can trust that he will find familiar expressions, mixed with reflection and realism, as well as a fidelity in everyday life that is proof of all frivolity.

Saints are milestones that indicate the path of the Christian life. Now, life is built from tiny, humble and grayish threads. Only at the end, in any case, is the total embroidery and combined filigree visible. Some personalities in Christian history are more to admire than to imitate. Mother Elisea offers her life as a model to reproduce: a faithful life in big and small things, tenacious in the task of everyday life, firm in the proposed objectives.

There are fabulous wonders in the macrocosm. The viewer with enough antenna is stunned by the magnitude of the galaxies or the beauty of nature. But there are also wonders in the microcosm. The perfection of the atom with the accuracy of its geometric figures and its enormous potential is no less beautiful and significant. Sometimes, the greatest feat of her life is that she manages to go unnoticed.

Mother Elisea's life is like the atom, of enormous potential and very significant. The magnitude of his human and Christian personality must be sought in the generosity of daily life, in his unreserved welcome, in the attractiveness of his humanity, in the tireless desire to serve, in the aroma of his daily virtues, in his exquisite prudence, in his evangelical simplicity. She did ordinary things in an extraordinary way, we call her her daughters gathered around the charisma.
