ISKCON Temple

ISKON Temple in Puerto Rico is a Hindu temple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also known as the Hare Krishna movement. It is located in Trujillo Alto, near San Juan, Puerto Rico, and serves as a center for devotional worship, meditation, and cultural activities.

The temple follows the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, focusing on devotion to Lord Krishna. Its activities typically include:

  • Daily worship services (aarti)
  • Chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra (kirtan)
  • Study of sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita
  • Sunday love feasts (prasadam distribution)
  • Festivals such as Janmashtami and Ratha Yatra

ISKCON temples worldwide were founded under the guidance of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1966, and they aim to promote bhakti-yoga (devotional service) and spiritual education through community living and worship.

The Puerto Rico center also functions as a community gathering space, where visitors of all backgrounds are welcome to attend classes, meditation sessions, and vegetarian meals. Like other ISKCON centers, it emphasizes simplicity, devotion, and service as the core of spiritual practice.

Today, it remains one of the key Hindu devotional centers on the island, serving both the local Indo-Caribbean community and visitors interested in Krishna consciousness and Vedic culture.
