Padmasambhava Buddhist Center of Puerto Rico

The Padmasambhava Buddhist Center of Puerto Rico (Centro Budista Padmasambhava de Puerto Rico) is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation and study center located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is part of the international Padmasambhava Buddhist Center network, which was founded by Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Puerto Rico center is considered the first Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhist center established on the island, and it focuses on teaching and practicing Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, especially within the Nyingma school (the “Ancient School” of Tibetan Buddhism).

Its main activities include:

  • Meditation instruction (including calm-abiding and insight practices)
  • Study of Buddhist philosophy and texts
  • Teachings on compassion, mindfulness, and Dzogchen practice
  • Community prayer gatherings and retreats

The center emphasizes developing qualities like equanimity, compassion, and awareness, with the goal of reducing suffering and cultivating spiritual awakening. It also hosts teachings, retreats, and community events that are open to both practicing Buddhists and beginners interested in meditation.
