Curry Memorial Methodist Church

Curry Memorial Methodist Church is a Christian congregation and member of The Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church, located on Zion Boulevard in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. It serves the South Beach community with worship, outreach, and Bible-centered teaching.

The congregation began in the early 1970s, when the newly developed South Beach Estates created an opportunity for ministry. Its inaugural service was held on Easter Sunday 1972 at the home of George and Marietta Thompson. Regular church school followed in private homes until land was secured for a permanent sanctuary.

Groundbreaking for the current church site occurred in 1980, led by Rev. Charles Curry, after whom the church is named. Services took place under a tent during construction. The cornerstone was laid on December 5, 1982, and the completed building was dedicated on December 11, 1983, by Rev. Kenneth Huggins, then District Chairman.

Curry Memorial has sustained a tradition of lay and ministerial cooperation, with leaders such as Reverends Edwin L. Taylor, John Bilverstone, Eric St. C. Clarke, and Colin Archer contributing to its growth. The church emphasizes worship, community service, and Christian education within the Methodist tradition, engaging Nassau residents through inclusive and welcoming fellowship.

In 1992, the congregation joined the Association for the Renewal of Methodism, later formalized as The Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church. As part of this national body, Curry Memorial participates in broader Methodist governance, missions, and events, reflecting its enduring role in Bahamian religious life.
