Religious Services Service
The Methodist Church in the British Virgin Islands is part of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA), a regional denomination that serves congregations across the Caribbean. Methodism has been present in the British Virgin Islands since the late eighteenth century and has played a significant role in the religious, educational, and social development of the territory.
Methodist missionaries arrived in the Virgin Islands during the expansion of the Wesleyan movement throughout the Caribbean. Over time, Methodist congregations were established on the major islands, including Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada. The church became known for its commitment to Christian worship, education, community service, and spiritual formation.
Today, Methodist churches throughout the British Virgin Islands provide regular worship services, Bible study programs, youth ministries, fellowship activities, and outreach initiatives. The denomination emphasizes the Wesleyan principles of faith, discipleship, personal holiness, and service to others. Methodist congregations also play an active role in supporting community development, disaster relief efforts, and charitable ministries across the territory.
As one of the largest and most influential Christian denominations in the British Virgin Islands, the Methodist Church continues to be an important part of the territory’s religious and cultural heritage, offering spiritual guidance and community support while maintaining its longstanding tradition of Christian witness and service.
