Ramjit & Basso Persad Temple

Ramjit & Basso Persad Hindu Temple is a Hindu temple located at Mohepath Trace, St. Helena, Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago. The temple was established in dedication to the late Ramjit Persad and Basso Persad, the parents of Harrinarine (Harry) Persad, founder and Executive Chairman of Harry Persad & Sons Ltd. It serves as a place of worship, spiritual learning, and community gathering for devotees following the traditions of Sanatan Dharma.

The temple features consecrated murtis (sacred representations of Hindu deities), including Shri Radha Krishna, Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman, Shri Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Parvati Devi, Shri Vishnu and Maa Lakshmi, Maa Saraswati, Maa Durga, a Shiva Lingam, and Lord Buddha. These sacred installations reflect the temple’s inclusive approach to Hindu worship and devotion.

Ramjit & Basso Persad Hindu Temple hosts regular religious activities, including puja ceremonies, bhajans, scriptural readings, and special observances of major Hindu festivals such as Maha Shivaratri, Diwali, Navratri, Ram Navami, and Krishna Janmashtami. The temple is particularly recognized for its Maha Shivaratri celebrations, which include devotional singing, prayers, cultural performances, and all-night vigils dedicated to Lord Shiva.

As a significant Hindu institution in central Trinidad, Ramjit & Basso Persad Hindu Temple contributes to the preservation of Hindu religious traditions, cultural heritage, and community values. Through worship, education, and fellowship, it provides a space where devotees and visitors can connect with spirituality and celebrate the rich Hindu heritage of Trinidad and Tobago.
